Monday (20/9/04) marked a special day for Indonesia as the nation held its first ever democratic presidential elections. While millions of votes were being collected in their homeland, Indonesians working and studying in Malaysia did not want to miss this golden opportunity to freely choose their future leader and visited the embassy in Kuala Lumpur to voice their choices. I was invited by an embassy officer at Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia (KBRI) to observe this Indonesian presidential election exercise in Kuala Lumpur. Purposely wanting to avoid the swarm of reporters who were scheduled to come during the morning press conference, I waited till after lunch before making my approach. Armed with two friends from Jakarta and my camera, I took a stroll down Jalan Tun Abdul Razak to capture the ambience of the truly democratic election.
![]() Predictably, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) won the most votes in Malaysia, as in most areas in Indonesia. Will Ibu Megawati not stay? We shall have to wait and see.

No wonder sambutannya kurang ngeh alias tidak hangat (liat aja comment board ini yang sepi)! But it's part of my observation of Indonesia sekalian kasi orang bukan Indo gimana proses voting Indonesia. Semoga Indonesia mendapat presiden baru yang lebih bisa memimpin and bring Indonesia back to life. Posted by Fairy on 24-Sep-2004, 20:31 MYT
